| Hardware costs: |
Hardware costs: The purchase or upgrade of a Server/Network is not required so the cost is zero. All that is needed is a PC with connection to the internet. Even the PC spec is very low as nothing is stored locally. |
The purchase of a database server would be required as well as probably an Exchange Server for email. Costs in relation to installation, maintenance and support would be additional. |
| Existing Hardware: |
Although the purchase of a server is not required, existing hardware infrastructure may still be used and life is breathed into this investment due to the fact that the running of your mission critical applications (Accounts, Time Recording and Case Management) are removed from this meaning less strain is placed upon it and it will last longer giving a greater return on previous investment. |
Possibly need replacing entirely but at the least would need upgrading. |
| Ongoing Hardware Costs: |
No ongoing replacement costs or maintenance costs of a server. Extended life of hardware. |
Replacement of Server and PCs every three years. |
| Third Party Software costs: |
No third party software costs other than Microsoft Office™ licences. |
Cost of Database licences (Microsoft SQL™?) Exchange™ licences etc. |
| Speed/cost of implementation: |
Log on and use. |
Hardware purchase and lead time and installation costs/time prior to access to the software. |
| Remote access: |
Available from anywhere via a simple internet connection whether it be for running multiple offices, home working or one off remote access. |
Would have to be set up and would only work from pre-defined locations. Costs incurred would include Servers, Third Party Software and communication links. |
| Potential for Downtime: |
No downtime or the cost of such as the system is hosted by us over multiple datacentres. A guaranteed service level agreement is provided. |
Huge – There are a million and one things that can go wrong with a server and downtime could be lengthy. |
| Cost of Downtime: |
None. |
The unexpected cost of replacing the server, the cost of being without a working system and access to accounts, time and case management records and the cost of having the new server installed and configured. |
| Disaster Recovery rate: |
Immediate by logging on to the service from an alternative location. |
Lengthy, downtime could be in excess of a week if the server needs replacing. |
| Potential for Loss of Data: |
None. |
Considerable. In the event of a disaster the client is dependant on the reliability and quality of backups taken locally and held off site. |
| Guarantee of Business Continuity: |
Even in the worst case scenario such as the client’s offices being destroyed by fire business continuity is guaranteed by simply logging on to the system from an alternative location. |
None. |
| Future Proof Investment? |
Yes, this is the latest technology and there is currently no perceived replacement for the internet.Would you buy a DOS system today? |
No, it is inevitable that traditional systems will be replaced by internet based applications meaning inevitable upgrade, data conversion and retraining costs. The development of traditional type systems is considerably limited in comparison with the latest technology that web based system run on. |
| Support: |
No individual instances of support issues can arise as the system is centrally hosted. We provide a Service Level Agreement guaranteeing 99% provision. |
Individual instances of support issues should be expected and would be lengthy to resolve and may even need an engineer call out. No Service Level Agreement can be supplied in relation to guarantee of availability as it is outside of the control of the supplier. |
| Upgrades: |
Upgrades are applied centrally meaning to involvement from the client. No support issues in applying upgrades as they are done centrally. |
Sent out by disk, have to be manually applied and can cause issue when installed. |
| Scalability: |
Additional licences or even offices are just a case of adding users to the system. |
Additional users and especially additional offices would require further hardware costs, local installation and set up taking time and costing money. |
| Fee Earner costs: |
No loss of fee earning time due to managing your own networks and server/s. |
Loss of fee earning time whilst managing your own IT. |
| Latest Hardware: |
Always operates on the latest hardware. |
Hardware upgraded every three years or so at considerable cost to you. |
| Locations of data: |
Real time mirrored multiple managed Datacentres in the UK. |
One location. |
| Cashflow: |
Predictable stable cost. Because it is a low cost tool for your law firm that will deliver huge returns and on the small investment and provide considerable savings due to its use. |
Unexpected costs due to hardware failure. |
