What is Cloud Computing?"Cloud computing heralds an evolution of business that is no less influential than e-business...” - www.gartner.com Cloud computing is Internet ("the cloud") based development and use of computer technology. It is a style of computing in which resources are provided “as a service” over the internet to users who need not have knowledge of, expertise in, time or budget for the technology infrastructure ("in the cloud"). Users benefit from considerable economies of scale and enjoy provisions that would not ordinarily be economically viable for them to achieve individually. It is a general concept that incorporates Software as a Service (SaaS), Web 2.0™ and other recent, well-known technology trends, in which the common theme is reliance on the Internet for satisfying the computing needs of the users. An often-quoted example is Google Apps, which provides common business applications online that are accessed from a Web Browser, while the software and data are stored on Google servers. The cloud is a metaphor for the Internet, based on how it is depicted in computer network diagrams, and is an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it conceals. Osprey has been built as a Cloud Computing Solution and designed using the latest Microsoft.Net™ technology. Microsoft.Net™ is a set of Microsoft™ software technologies for connecting information, people, systems and devices. It enables software integration through the use of XML web services: small, discrete, building-block applications that connect to each other – as well as other, larger applications – via the Internet. We have been offering Osprey as a Cloud Computing application for law firms for over five years now and are a market leader in this field. |
